The team here at Fixby House. Feel that supporting metal health of our children is one of the important parts of our role.
Too often, children and young people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health is not given the attention it needs. Every adult who works with our children can be a mental health expert as we all have life experiences. The relationships between the practitioners and children will help t to build a sense of belonging and self-worth, sharing positive experiences and providing emotional support and allowing the children to support each other.
Starting to talk about feelings and wellbeing from an early age could help to prevent mental health issues later in life. Children need to be in an environment that promotes and protects their mental health. This can be done by having kind and caring practitioners who work in partnership with parents, and they will be able to provide an environment that is needed for the children to have a positive and inclusive setting.

Being physically active can also help the children’s mental wellbeing as well as their physical health and fitness. Being physically active can raise their self-esteem, help them make goals and challenges that they are able to achieve.
Being active can cause a chemical change in the brain, helping to change your mood. Please take a look at the different environments we offer here at Fixby House.
Through exploring and playing, the children are learning new skills. These new skills will help the children to boost their own self-confidence and self-esteem. All children can connect with each other and build a sense of purpose.

As parents or carers, you are an important role model for your child. Your child does not need you to be perfect – in fact seeing you make some mistakes can be really useful! What is important is that you can show them that you – and they – can continue to develop and grow even when things are hard.
In fact, sometimes, this is when we learn and grow the most.
