That’s why we’ve designed a thoughtful settling-in process that helps children feel safe, secure, and ready to begin their journey with us.
Stay-and-Play Sessions: Building Bridges Together
Before your child officially starts at Fixby House, we invite you to join our Stay-and-Play sessions. These take place every day from 9:30 to 10:30 am and are specifically for children who have already signed up with us. During these sessions, parents and children spend time together in the nursery environment, meeting our practitioners and getting familiar with the space.
Stay-and-Play sessions are invaluable for building trust and connections. Your child will see you interacting with the practitioners, which helps them feel more confident about forming their own bonds. At the same time, we get the opportunity to learn about your child’s personality, preferences, and routines—ensuring we can provide the most supportive care from day one.
Settling-In Sessions: Gently Easing the Transition
The week or so before your child officially starts with us, we take the next step with settling-in sessions. These sessions run from 9:30 to 11:30 am and include a delicious, hearty lunch. Typically, we schedule two settling-in sessions to help your child adjust to nursery life without their parents present.
During this time, your child begins to experience the rhythm of the nursery day, engage in activities, and interact more closely with our practitioners. These sessions are essential for fostering a sense of security and belonging, helping your little one feel at home in their new environment.
Staying Connected Through the Famly App
We know it can be hard to leave your child for the first time, which is why we keep parents closely connected through the Famly app. From the moment your child begins their journey at Fixby House, you’ll have access to updates on how they’re doing.
Our practitioners regularly share photos and updates throughout the day, giving you a glimpse into the fun and learning your child is experiencing. At the end of the day, you’ll also receive daily updates on meals, nappy changes, and key moments from their day—keeping you fully informed and reassured.
